WHAT IS SONSHIP ?

Who we are is a topic of identity. The identity of God's sons and daughters has to do with sonship or daughterhood. However, from the biblical point of view, there is no such thing as daughterhood, only the general term sonship. Here, this collective term does not speak of gender, but of position within God's family. Knowing who we are allows us to live a life that is not consumed by fear or enslavement to different things, so we would have or be enough.

Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to live in fear again, but you received the Spirit of sonship, in which we cry, "Abba, Father." This Spirit himself testifies to our spirit that we are God's children. But if we are children, we are also heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, so that if we suffer together, we may also be glorified together.

Just as men are included in the bride of Christ (the church), similarly women are included in the sonship of Christ. When we realized we were accepted by Christ, we were awakened in faith by His movement as God's children. It is written that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit ( 1 Cor 6:19 ), that spirit of sonship, the Spirit of God's Son, Jesus Christ. Christ is in us ( Col 1:27 ) and we have been put into Christ ( 2 Cor 5:17 ) at the same time. Is your head spinning from so much theology? Do not worry! Just remember this summary - sonship is about being one with our heavenly Father.

By being put into Christ, we have been put into His sonship. Therefore, we do not have to shape our sonship and worry about what is not yet the perfect sonship that's ours. We can simply discover what wonderful sonship of God's Son we have been placed in, what perfect sonship has been given to us out of love. After all, sonship is not about how we perform, but who we are to our heavenly Father, regardless of how we behave. His view of us is not changed by our behavior. He remains the same because who we are to Him is already firmly decided - His beloved children.
